Getting Started
9th May 2019
For me, photography is just a hobby and a study topic. I am not upset by the notion that ‘nobody cares about the pictures I take apart from me’. In fact, I have embraced the idea that nobody cares about anything I do to the extent that I’ve never had a Facebook account, or a Twitter account, or an Instagram account. I guess that also shows that I’m not very interested in what other people are doing either. My working assumption is – it’s mutual.
So why have I just spent time creating a portfolio website? After all, if I have no expectation that the world will want to look, why put it out there?
In truth, I don’t know. At least in part it has to do with giving me more reasons to critique my own photos and be sure that they are as good as I can make them right now with whatever skill and knowledge I have. That in turn drives improvement. It might challenge me to carry a camera more often and look harder for something to point it at.
So, I will just publish some pictures that I like and maybe a couple of sentences about why I like them. I have ambitions to start a themed photo project and if that happens, this is where I’ll put the best of it.
Hell, I’m not even writing this blog post with any expectation that it will be read. Until you came along I was only talking to myself. Whoever you are I hope you like what you see enough to get in touch.
